How to use Custom Options

Custom Options can be accessed via our trading platform.

Before you can place a trade, you will need to fund your Custom Options account, which is created as soon as you open the Custom Options window for the first time.

When you login to our trading platform, the Custom Options link sits beneath the left-hand menu:

Customs Options will open in a new window, where you will be able to fund your account and build your Custom Options trades. You can also view your History and monitor any open positions from this area.

Please note you will be required to read and agree to the Custom Options Terms & Conditions when you first access Custom Options. These Terms and Conditions are also detailed in our contract details.

Funding your Custom Options account

Before placing your first Custom Options trade, you will need to transfer funds from your main IG account into your Custom Options account. This can be done instantly and free-of-charge.

Select Funds Transfer from the left-hand menu. This will take you to a form which you can use to transfer funds between your IG and Custom Options accounts.

You may also transfer funds through the trading platform.

To do this, go to the Payments area of My Account and select Transfer Funds. You can then use the form displayed to switch funds between your accounts.

Please note that if you wish to withdraw funds from your Custom Options account, you will need to transfer them to your IG account first.

Making a trade

Once you have funded your Custom Options account you can begin trading.

Select Fast Option from the left-hand menu and then specify your position on the Custom Options.

Using the drop-down menus and sliding scales, you can specify your chosen market, the direction that you think the market will move, your expiry time and the amount you’re willing to risk (the premium).

The box at the bottom of the screen summarises your position for you, including your potential profit and maximum possible loss. Once you’re happy with your trade, click Trade Now to make your trade.

Monitoring custom option positions

Custom Options will not appear with your other open positions in the trading platform and don’t contribute to the running profit and loss on your IG account.

To view your current Custom Options and check your funds, you should visit the Open Positions area of the Custom Options window.

To view past positions, use the History tab.
