Our price is based on the level of the underlying index, but has the added benefit of moving with the liquidity of a futures markets. We offer standard and mini CFD contracts, as well as the flexibility to trade in fractions of a contract.
Many of our indices markets are quoted 24 hours a day, including Australia 200, FTSE and Wall Street. So you can respond to global stock market news and gain exposure, even when the underlying market is closed.
Stock index futures
We offer trades on a range of contract months, often quoting prices for months which are not quoted in the equivalent futures market. Our minimum contract sizes are also usually smaller than the minimum transaction size of the equivalent future.
This gives you flexibility when taking a CFD position on long-term market moves. A short position in a future can also be used as a hedge to your share portfolio against market falls.
AUD denominated prices
Exclusive to IG Markets, AUD denominated prices enable you to avoid currency exposure when trading indices. Traditionally, if you trade on an overseas index you will trade in its natural currency. This means that you are not only taking on the underlying market but you are also exposing yourself to currency risk. AUD denominated CFDs allow you to simplify your strategy by trading a select group of international markets in Australian dollars, taking currency exposure out of the equation.

AUD denominated stock indices example
You BUY 5 contracts of AUD denominated FTSE 100 Cash at 3720. Your deposit requirement is A$200 per contract, or A$1000. When you sell your 5 contracts at 3772 the profit on the trade is 5 x 1 x (3772 - 3720) = A$260. Unlike traditional CFD contracts, there are no GBP currency conversions.
